Hands-On Identification of Button Materials for the
Beginning Collector:
Buttons of different materials and identification tips will be displayed, with samples available for examination (bone, celluloid, china, composition, glass, horn, leather, plastic, rubber, shell, metal, vegetable ivory, wood).
Small labeled mounting cards and wire will be available and visitors will be encouraged to choose a button in each material for a small collection.
Display of Cleaning Techniques:
A work station and "before and after" buttons in different materials will be exhibited.
Informational sheets will be available, listing tools, supplies and techniques.
(These two exhibits to be staffed, as volunteer time is available)
